by mp3's i'm assuming you mean an mp3 player. an mp3 player is the same as an ipod but goes by a different name. ipods may be dominating the market right now but if you ask me they're not the best deal. i got a creative zen vision m which has as much storage as an ipod 30gig and it has more features at $20 less. shop around before you go with an ipod. you'll probably find a better deal.

No, they're not the same. An mp3 is a digital music file and an iPod is an mp3 "player". So in old terms, an mp3 is like a song on a record and an iPod is like a record player.
There are many rivals to the iPod, but the iPod is by far the most popular and well supported mp3 player on the market.
Hope that helps

IPods are the brand name of Aplles mp3 player. You can only play tracks downloaded from the Itunes website on an Ipod, so once you have bought a load of music you are stuck.
People say they are the best, yes they are very good, but like phones they are crammed with so many gadgets etc people are for ever upgrading to be cool.
Normal mp3 players will not play Itunes, but give you far more choice: so you want a disk drive version, that is great for sitting at the desk, but not the best for jogging, or do you want a solid state version, ideal for running etc, but not as much capacity.
IPODs cannot be upgraded by adding memory cards, but quite a few MP3s can, saying that who has 10,000 legally bought tracks to load to the mp3 player.
I will stick to my mp3 player, tey are cheaper than IPODs, less likely to be stolen, and there are hundreds to choose from if I ever want to upgrade.

mp3's are the most popular way of storing music. the ipod has an mp3 player built into it but it can also play a few other music formats. some ipods can play videos too. but if you're not too concerned with watching short videos on a small screen on the move then you're better off buying a run-of-the-mill mp3 player. they're a lot less expensive and hold A LOT more data

mp3's are files of sound data. They are similar to the data found on a music cd except the file has been condensed (like a zip file is a condensed data file), which allows you to download files much faster and store more of them at one place. it is short for mpeg-3 which is the encoding method used to condense the sound data.
ipod is a brand name for apple's portable music player. it plays mp3 files as well as other types of sound files (including wave files, which is what you find on a music cd). there are other portable mp3 players out there by other companies that wouldn't be ipods. so mp3s and ipods are really two different things.

Spot the difference: back in May, the assistant in Virgin Megastore was trying to flog me an ipod, it cost around £150 and could store 500 songs. No chance. I went to Dixons and bought a Zen MP3 player, same price, can store 10,000 songs. It's all about the name.

All of them are MP3s but the only one allowed to be called an Ipod is the Apple one. They also link to i-tunes, whilst general MP3s can use sites such as Napster.
