Hey Franco, we kill 'em....they are not innocent....in the islands it's "kill or be killed"!

Fell asleep in front of the TV at Hickam AFB...woke up to a tickle on my leg. I kind of swiped at it and looked around but didn't see anything. Since I was awake, I got up to go to bed and stuck my foot in my slipper on the ground and felt something moving. Of course, I yanked my foot out and freaked when a 6-inch milliped/centipede came out. I proceeded to wake the whole house shouting and beating the crap out of that centipede with my slipper (which is quite an accomplishment, since the damn things are more heavily armored than a Sherman tank). Yuck!

Oh my goodness yes! I hate those nasty things. One day I was in Longs and I felt somthing crawling on my leg, so I kind of stratched and hit the area and shook my leg..... and out popped a huge centipede! I ran and it just crawled away. It's probably still crawling around Kailua's Longs :o) I hope it doesn't get anyone.

*Edit*
I think Franco would feel different if he were bitten by one!

yes A comrade of mine was bitten on the cheek by a Huge Centipede on the Island of Saipan, in the Marianas group. in 1945. His cheek became very swollen and painful, but he survived.
USMC 1942-1946 Item: Saipan is the Sister Island to Tinian: Tinian is the island that the B29 Bombers took off from to bomb Japan.

The "Enola Gay" also took off from Tinian. I will let you research that one.

when I was in Hawaii, I found one running around in the kitchen, so we caught it in a paper bag and I took it out to the yard to let it go. I dumped it out very close to a frog on the lawn, and was about to move it as I thought it might bite the frog...when suddenly the frog snatched it up and slurped it down like a strand of spaghetti!! It was gross and very exciting at the same time.

Do you think it is funny, or clever, to kill an innocent creature that has done you nothing wrong?
