I'm going to be taken off brethine tommorow, sure I'll admit everyonce in a while I'll experince cramping (like what you get when you have your period) or slight painful (not to painful) contractions. The contractions don't last very long. I told my doctor about the cramps he said don't worry about. also I experince pain sharp pain in my vagina when I get up and am laying down.

Its your body preparing for the birth. The contractions or cramps as you call them, are probably braxton hicks contractions. It is completely natural. They will probably get stronger as you get along further. The sharp pain is probably from the pressure of the baby. Has the baby dropped yet? These are completely normal.
There is a great book that helped me with my first child. It is called, What to Expect when you are expecting. It takes you thru everything and is a very easy read.

I am 37.3 weeks pregnant and I have been experiencing the same symptoms for the past week or so. My OB assures me that this is my body preparing for the big event and that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. It just means that the big day is right around the corner!! Good luck!!

Being that you're in week 36, it sounds like its ok for your to get off of the brethine. If your doctor is ordering you off of it, he has good hopes and expectations for the remainder of your pregnancy. Just take it easy the next few weeks.

You are in labor and the brethine is not stopping it. The sharp pain in your vagina is because your cervix is dialating. Time the contractions.

Don't worry, it's just your body getting ready for labor. Congratulations! If your baby is born at 37 weeks it will be considered full term. Good Luck!
