I am taking a course in dog behaviour and have to design handout leaflets to give to clients about diet/health etc and wondered if I should do 1 straight sheet of paper, or paper folded up so that it opens out.....?

OK a handout is a piece of paper with information on it that you have covered in a lesson or taught the person.
As it is something to do with dogs and therefore your client base is it's owners it would be handouts on behaviour issues and how to address them so that they have not only been taught it but can refere back to it. It could be on diet what is the best way to feed the dogs/time/amount/nutrition information. Another may be on commands and how they implement them. There are many and you will know what to put as you are studying it.
If it is for the clients then put them in order of importance and staple them together. Or booklet form it is up to you.
If you have to teach first then give out a handout always give the handout after lesson as students will read the handouts and not listen to you. Hope that helps and good luck.

a 'handout' is basically like a booklet or leaflet which acts as a guide for a person to follow. in other words, it acts almost as a visual aid and contains information on the subject you are talking about. it could include diagrams and pictures which makes it easier for the reader to understand what you are talking about in say, an oral presentation for example.

Depending what the requirements of the course are, I usually use one or 2 page fact sheets as handouts. Mostly I am involved with health education so I use things like ways to start converstaion with people who have dementia or stress balls with tips for relieving stress.

A handout is a leaflet or piece of paper that is handed out to people.

It could be for a lesson, or for a conference, or for many other reasons.

What is the subjet of your handout?

Handout means the summary(points listed) of lesson taught or read. along with some questions covering the topics in the lesson so as to ensure that one has completely understood the concept. can be like either true/false or fill in the blanks type.
