It has been said that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. That said, why are so many people wanting to hand the reins of government back over to the Iraqis?
Ignoring the question of whether we should or should not have invaded (spilt milk and all). After WW2, did the allies (mostly the US because we still had some capability at that point) hurry to get out of Japan or Germany?
No we did not, they had lost a major war and were not capable of governing themselves, and they were well established nations not the tottering wreck that Iraq had been driven to over the past 20 years.
After the American Civil War the reconstruction process was cut drasticaly short due to political infighting and caused problems for the South which continue to reverberate to this day.
If we Americans are going to conquer another country we need to be resposible enough to rebuild it properly, not a half-assed rush job because of whining liberals.

But you forgot the most important thing: Bush is the devil. We must ignore history, ignore all facts, and do the complete opposite of Bush. Who cares who dies, who cares about any ramifications? Bush is the devil and we must oppose him, no matter what.

Let us pray to the Global Warming god (Al Gore) and say our sacred chant: Bush bad! Bush bad! Bush bad! We will fight the infidels (Republicans) to the death! Allah Akbar!

Thanks for another good old fashioned dose of American hubris!

"Hi, we're the guys who just wasted countless numbers of your men, women, and children. Want us to stick around for a while and help you out?"

At what point will we realize that we cannot beat people--ours or some other countries--into submission and expect them to love us for it? The barrel of a gun is very pursuasive, but it makes few friends...

Fine, let's help them rebuild it - sans occupation. Agressor nations (Invasion of Kuwait) should consider themselves fortunate to receive fair and firm treatment after they've been conquered, but we should draw the line at kissing their rosette while we're at it............
