I've stayed at a number of hotels in Vegas:
1. Mandalay Bay - the best pool situation, beautiful rooms.
2. The Rio - Don't let people sway you. Being off the strip isn't so bad because this hotel is very close to Ceaser's and Bellogio and that's pretty much the center of the Vegas universe. The rooms are large. The hotel pool is pretty good. There are a number of easy ways to get to the strip including a free shuttle.
3. Venitian - Really great rooms. Great service. Very expensive. Best for couples.
4. The Palms - Overrated hotel with small rooms.
5. Tropicana - OLD - AVOID!
6. Circus Circus - DO NOT STAY HERE FOR ANY REASON! NOT EVEN IF THEY PAY YOU TO STAY.
The best information resource on the internet is www.cheapovegas.com. Matt and stinky are regular people who write very honest, humerous and straitforward reviews. The site is up to date. I learned about this site right after my first trip in 2001. They had the same feelings about many things that I had from my trip.

You have started out by picking the right time of year. In Vegas you get what you pay for, bottom line. There is no free or cheap without a price. You can stay at the Lady Luck for fifty or so a night and be cramped and not all that great service or you can stay at the Venetian or the Wynn and pay from 130 to 500 a night but it is all well worth the money. I would also suggest a room at the MGM grand. The help is great, there is free (remember it is in the cost of the room) entertainment like lion shows and the like. Even comes with a very decent breakfast buffet. I went last month and a room with two beds was somewhere around 130 I believe. Some of the best dealers in town. I don't know about the price of their rooms but the best atmosphere in my opinion was the New York New York. Please if it is for your anniversary don't go too cheap, these are memories you are paying to create, not money you are trying to save.

My friends and I went in late May and stayed at the Flamingo. The rates were decent (we bought an online package), the room was nice, and the pool system at the Flamingo was insane. I don't know how much the temps. dip in Vegas in October, but if swimming interests you two at all, this place is fantastic. The location is great, since it is literally smack-dab in the middle of the 'new' Vegas strip, next to Caesar's Palace and Paris. It also has a monorail stop, and is fairly close to the airport as well. Have fun, and watch out for the smut peddlers!

Location is very important, so stay near the center of the Las Vegas strip. I would not go lower than 4 stars when selecting a hotel. Venetian is my favorite hotel.
You can read about all the different hotels on:

Hello there,
Me and my hubby (we got married in Las Vegas last year) stayed at the Orleans and absolutely loved it. We are going again next week (25th September) and we can't wait. Really great hotel. Look at the reviews on tripadvisor. 98% of people give it 5 stars and when you stay there you'll see why. Great price hotel for Las Vegas. Admittedly its not on the strip but we weren't bothered by that in the slightest - they have a shuttle bus which should suffice (not that we used it).

You have to stay on the strip. TI is medium priced but very nice. It has a great location in the middle of the strip. Eat breakfast at the Bellagio buffet the best one going. Practice your gambling skills at Casino Royale, $1 Black Jack the last time I was there. Check out lasvegasadvisor.com for some real vegas deals.
Have a great time!

I have two hotels that I really like to stay in. I really like the Las Vegas Hilton, and I also like Harrah's. The Hilton is a little bit off the strip and is also a little less expensive. Harrah's is right in the thick of things but is still a pretty reasonably priced hotel.

I would have to say "The Luxor". It's not the high class hotels but if you are wanting to spend more money on partying for your anniversary, that is the place to stay at. Personally, I'd rather have more money to go out and about then spend a grip on a hotel room.
Anyway, good luck and happy anniversary!

The Monte Carlo is my favorite hands down...allt he "niceness" of a strip hotel, but it's not as BIG and annoying...smaller casino, fantastic pool area...really nice
