it seems like every sport refers to their championship as "the Super Bowl of blank" -
like daytona 500 is "the Super Bowl of nascar"

Probably because the Super Bowl is the greatest Football event and The World Cup is the greatest Football event.

I am an American, and I wish we could get rid of football, and play some world cup more often. The world cup is played every four years, and it a HUGE global event. Bigger than the Super bowl.

wow ? you must not know much about soccer,no offense but soccer is huge world wide ,the fan are r not real fans,fanatical sometimes ,make nfl look tiny in prosports,but not that big here in u.s,its really fun too watch, nonstop action ,can be slow at times,but it dosent have all the pollitics as in nfl.and you cAN head butt people,lol

it shouldn't be, the world cup is on a level of it's own, is the biggest sporting event in the world, bigger then the olympics, it's called the world cup for a reason......
