If you multiply each term by 7, you won't have a fraction:

x + 56 = 7x + 14
Subtract x on each side: 56 = 6x + 14
Subtract 14 from each side: 42 = 6x
Divide by 6: x = 7

x/7 +8 = x+2

=> (x +56)/7 = x+2

=> 7x +14 = x + 56

=> 6x = 42

=> x = 7

You've got lot's of really dood answers time time. I'm gooing to assume that you are working WAY ahead of you book so you need hlep on everyhitng. (If you don't need the hlp then just skip over it.)

x/7 + 8 = 2

First get all the x's on side and all the numbers on the other
So let's subtract 8 from both sides

x/7 +8 -8 = 2 - 8 OR
x/7 = -6

Now let's get rid of the fration by multiplying both sides by 7

x/7 * 7 = - 6 * 7 OR
X= -42

To see if we've right, let's put everything back together
-42 / 7+ 8 does equal 2. You did it! (and you can do many others I'm sure.

x/7 + 8 = x +2
So x/7 + 8 - 2 = x
So 8-2 = x - x/7
So 6 = 6/7x
So 6 x 7 = 6x
So 42 = 6x
So 42/6 = x
x = 7

In the equation therefore if you substitute 7 for x you get
7/7 + 8 = 7 + 2
Or 1 + 8 = 7 + 2
= 9
