when we were trying to get pregnant before we tried for 6 months, took a vacation to the in-laws for Christmas holidays for a week, came back bought a dildo, tried again using the toy as a plug to keep everything in afterwards and got pregnant 2 weeks after getting home. Also the other part of my story is that while trying to conceive we were also planning our wedding, we decided to stop trying and finish the wedding plans. We were planning the wedding for late May 2004 and I got pregnant finally very late January 2004. So needless to say Gabe was at the wedding with us and joined our family a few days before Halloween that year. He will be 2 years old in 5 weeks and we now have been trying to conceive a sibling for about 4-5 months so far.

My best suggestions would be for positions work with gravity, keep your hips elevated. Get yourself a good ovulation calendar, I had one that was on my computer that worked pretty good then, I have it again this time. I found this second one while searching for the one I just downloaded today. I think I like this calendar even more. On the first link you can't edit anything other than your LMP date but on the second one you can add in the sex you are trying for if it matters to you. I have a boy already, my husband and our families would love to have a little girl this time. The last girl in his family was 20 years ago, our son was the first boy in my family in 25 years. It doesn't matter to me either way so long as it is healthy. I have Gabe's outgrown clothes and since my cousin is having a girl next month I will have girl hand-me-downs as well. I have all the furnature either way. But I would like to know the sex this time. Gabe wouldn't let us see, he kept his feet under his butt the whole time so you couldn't see anything.

Good luck to you.

My husband and I just tried to do as often as possible :-) I would try to do it more when I was at my most fertile time. I also found (this is so embarassing, I cant beleive I am writing this on the net) that when I sat or stood up right after sex things would squig out so If you dont want to stick your legs up over your head, just stay laying down for a bit, snuggle and watch some t.v.

I think a big thing with women who are trying to conceive is to keep a positive attitude. I know that getting stressed out or depressed can throw your cycle off. So, be patient with the process. You have gone to the doc and everything is physically fine with both of you so relax.

Doing things like meditation, or excerises classes might be really good for you. The healthier your body and mind, the better.

Good luck!

When I was having trouble conceiving, the first thing my doc did was to check my husband's sperm count. It was ok. Then he moved on to me, and I had a procedure (hystersalpingogram, I think it was called) and it looked for what blood work and a vaginal exam can't see, which is whether one of your tubes could possibly be blocked. That test turned out ok. Then, after about 5 more months of trying, added to the 6 months before that, my doc finally put me on clomid to bring on ovulation. Not everyone woman ovulates every month. The best thing for you to do to better you chances of becoming pregnant is to learn as much as you can about your cycles. It's not true that everyone ovulates 14 days before their period. I ovulate later, and I have learned that through BBT charting and also investing in an over the counter ovulation kit. If you have sex every other day during your most fertile time, pregnancy will eventually happen if you are infact ovulating. There's nothing special position wise that will cause pregnancy besides just knowing your body and doing the right thing at the right time. Although my doc did tell me to lay down for a few min after intercourse and allow as much sperm to make it's way in, instead of getting up and wiping most away after.

Good luck to you! I'm trying for #2 and am on month 6 of trying....hopefully soon....

Try having sex every other day from day 10 of your cycle until day 20. Sperm generally live 2 days, so this will allow your partner's sperm to replenish and keep you with a constant supply of sperm waiting for your egg. Also, my OB does agree that you should elevate your pelvis for at least 20 minutes after wards. You can either put a pillow under your butt or bring your knees to your chest. Having an orgasm will help draw in your partner's sperm as well.

It's good that you are charting your ovulation though. That is the key to conceiving. Many people are quick to say "just stop trying", but you have to know if you even ovulate regularly. If you don't, then you can't conceive. I discovered I don't ovulate regularly and so my OB gave me Clomid to help. I have one daughter and currently ttc again.

go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! My husband and I tried for a year and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

When I was 24 we started trying to have a baby. I went to the doctor because I didn't have regular periods. My doctor immediately sent me to a fertility specialist. We took clomid for 4 months before conceiving our oldest daughter. The doctor didn't want to give the the Rx for the fourth month, but I insisted because he was going on vacation and I would have lost a month of trying. After I weaned my oldest daughter at 1 year my period suddenly started coming on it's own. We took clomid for 2 months to try for a second baby with no sucess. Then we stopped for 4 months because my husband changed jobs and we didn't have insurance. After our insurance kicked in we started ttc without clomid, since my regular cycle had continued. It only took 2 months to concieve the baby I'm going to have in about 6 weeks. We never did anything special other than having sex every other day after my period ended and the 2 months before we conceived this baby I charted my temperatures every day.

For a normal healthy couple it can take up to a year, sometimes more. Have you tried charting your cycles? Http://www.fertilityfriend.com can help you.

If you have a 28 day cycle, then start having sex every night from cycle day 12 until cycle day 16 every month. Start counting cycle days from the first day of your new period.

Also, the quickest, easiest fertility test is a sperm analysis. Your partner can have one done and that will tell you if he has any factors affecting your conception.

Also, if he is smoking(even cigs), drinking(even a beer or two a day), getting in a hottub or taking showers that are too hot, it can make him produce less sperm, kill the sperm he is producing and can also make the sperm so weak that they can't swim into the egg.

I dont know if this will help you or not but if you were on any type of birth control it may take up to or over a year to get out of your system. My boyfried and I were not trying to have a baby but after awhile we thought he couldnt concieve and we always do different things in bed. BAM i was pregnant. Do anything from the normal to doggystyle...i know it sounds stupid but ive heard of many women doing it that way for the first time and they got pregnant!

I think if you stress about it when in the middle of doing it and that's all on your mind you have less of a chance to get pregnant try relaxing and enjoy the moment less pressure and you're more likely to conceive. Good Luck!!

Your best bet is to have sexual intercourse every other day because then, you're more likely to get pregnant. Also, another strategy is to consult your OBGYN about your most fertile days (still only have sex every other day), if you have sex too frequently, your partner may not have the most sperm as if he only "busts" every other day. I did not plan on getting pregnant, it just happened! I wish you the best of luck, I'll say a prayer for you!!
