The report is that neither the Yankees or the Mets are interested in Zitos services. And it doesnt look like he really wants to go to a city with a huge market, but more of a smaller team, with a good offence that can back him up when he pitches. Look for the Phillies and the Padres to make a huge run for him. Because Zito has a good relationship with Pat Gillick of the Phillies, and respects Pat and has wanted to work with him. And the Padres, because his hometown is in San Diego and he has expressed intrest in working with the Padres, but they arent going to get a hometown discount, because Zitos agent is Scott Boras.

The real question is - who will overpay the most for him. Don't get me wrong he's definitely an ace, but his contract is going to be ridiculous. Expect Dodgers, Padres, Yankees, Cubs, Red Sox, Mets, Blue Jays, Cardinals and Giants to all make a serious run at him. If he's smart, expect him to be in the NL next year.

Probably the Mets. They can afford him and he will be the #2 guy behind Petey. I don't think any West Coast teams will entice him except for the Dodgers b/c he's a home town kid, however the Dodgers have a lot of questions to answer in the off season with regards to free agents, Lofton, Nomar, Maddux, Lugo, and list keeps growing. The Dodgers are poised for one season not the Mets.

He better sign with the Yankees. He is a good lefty and gets a lot of stikeouts. Even if the Yankees don't keep Johnson (which they might not) Zito will be an excelent addition to this teams rotation. (Plus he is one of my favorite pitchers this season!)

He also is a great guy. I think he was the one who started "Strikeouts for Troops".

Probably the free spending Yankees, so they can boost their salary figure above 300 million. The Giants will have around 40 million or so in money, but they will be rebuilding, so I don't see him staying on the west coast. Maybe the Dodgers, if they make it far this year.

Ya, i think most likely he wouldnt really want to sign here in the east coast......but it would be awesome if he signed with the Red Sox. We can really use a guy like him on the rotation. But who knows. If he signs if the yankees im goin to hate him for life. I think he is gonna go with the team who is going to offer the most money. Most players are greedy like that.

The New York teams will both make a push for him, but there is a lot of serious talk that my Cubs will put up a lot of dough to bring him to Chicago. What excitement that would bring to me and to all of the Cubs Nation!

Cardinals.

Walt Jocketty seems to be able to get A's players. I see him flying with the Redbirds next year.
