Of course. Your political standpoint stems from deeper values.
Religion instills those very kinds of values. To say that your religion, whatever it may be, doesn't affect your political stance would mean that you're:
A) Lying
B) Ignorant of the truth
C) Not confident that your religion is the Truth.

My lack of a religion affects the way I vote. I have a very difficult time throwing my support towards a candidate who is unable to separate Church and State.

While I support people's right to religion and religious expression, a government representative is there to represent ALL the people, not just the ones of specific religious persuasion.

of course- if I believe that the person I want to vote for doesn't have a sensitivity to religion or any moral standards (like Clinton) i surely wouldn't vote for them

NO. i do no longer positioned any emphasis on who is going to allow gay marriage and abortion. Nor do I evaluate their marital happiness or constancy, or lack thereof. I purely prefer to vote on the placement of national protection, jobs and coaching. I bypass away all else for the states to artwork out.
