Traditional polytheism, way before Jesus and Mohamed, the gods were considered to be archetypes and powers that existed within man and within nature. They represented aspects of life and were considered benefactors of mankind; not his judge or executioner.

Monotheism considers only ONE god [or one as three] and this is an externalized being who is incomprehensible, omniscient. holy, and all powerful except for the fact that he demands worship and servitude from mortals.

One theory on God is called negative theology. Basically it describes God by what God is not, rather than what God is. The underlying idea is that God transcends language and the ways in which we try to describe how/what God is. It is a recognition of the limitations of human understanding and the mysterious and infinite nature of God (note: infinite = not finite).

I think negative theology tends to cultivate humility and a lack of dogmatism. What can really be said about God? That is the question.

I would also like to add that a negative theology does not in any way impoverish our ability to think about morality or ethics or spirituality. Rather, I think it shifts these discussions out of legalistic definitions and into an arena that is more open, more difficult, more subtle, and ultimately more fruitful.

God is an emotionless being that created the world to find out how he came to be. Humans give him emotion. I don't agree with the Bible because man wrote it. I like it however, for its moral philosophy.

god is man created, thats why there are so many gods, approx 300 and so many religions. they have even traced the origin of religion to the slaves of pharoah. i do not understand how a intellgent race of people, humans, allowed this to continue for so long with the truth at hand.

There were good people with good morals and values such as jesus but i don't believe he had magical powers to come back 3 days later. he was killed because of what he believed in which is love and peace same reason why all the great humans in our history were killed (Gandhi, MLK, JFK, and many more...)
