I used to work at Footlocker during college. I remember clearly that most of the blacks would always ask for discounts, "yo, son....you going to get me a discount if I purchase two shoes(I guess he meant two pairs of shoes)? yo, man how come dese Nike's be so high, I can get them for half the price(go ahead then) , etc"

there was only one occasion where a white person asked for a discount. he was one of those wiggers. go figure.

I bring this up because this morning this co-worker and I were talking about what type of jobs we had during college. then we talked about our sales experience and we both had the same problem with black people.

I worked in retail too, and mostly white ladies always asked for a discount. So let's just be careful of how we judge situations, okay?

The thing you didn't touch on is the way they ask. Like you're hiding it form them and we whites secretly give it to each other all the time. Or like they just expect I have had the same experience as a bartender. Whites never argued over shot size or said "make it a strong drink too yo", by the way that doesnt get you more booze just more ice. It is just another instance of them wanting the rules beent just for them instead of acting like a civilized person in a civilized society, no thats not racist it's a fact, facts aren't racist opinions are...

Fist of all. blacks are always asking for discounts because, Anything that will save them money is first priority. Some black people are just plane cheap. So , asking for half off on a shoe or anything in that matter is getting lower prices. Not all black people are asking for discount prices only the ones that see you as a get over. Trust me they have the money. By the way if black people feel they can get over you, they will.

intelligent questions are the most misunderstood.....
it really is a well accounted observation and one that would obviously bring up questions.

it could have been worded better, as to not generalize the black community as a whole due the a few that are in question.

i can tell you that no matter what color, creed, religion, etc. that certain people are.....its been my experience that this type of individual does indeed have direct links to a certain age group and geographical area they are from.... for the most part

and that would be, the hustler/gang banger/hood/thug type,,, usualy from the inner city, but not always....
without a doubt, they are the ones who are ALWAYS looking for a "deal", or a better/cheaper way to gain what they want.

For me that is being pretty frugal and I find nothing wrong about it.I am Asian and I also look for discounts. Maybe I am not just as assertive as the African Americans but I really go out and look for stuff that has already discounts written on every merchandise. I also see some of my friend who are from East India and I go with them in some bargain hunting. Whites you said does not do so much asking for discounts.... yes, but I have observe them to be really very choosy and will see to it that they really like it. So, when they decide to buy they don't check on the price, they really check on the quality.

This has nothing to do with race. I worked at a baby store and people (almost all white people) would always ask me if I could give them coupons. Also, military people, students, locals, and seniors often ask for discounts at various places. I live in Las Vegas and often ask if discounts are available for locals. Hey, if I can save a couple bucks, why not? (By the way, you're giving white people a bad name- not all of us are racist.)

But see your problem - you went from two examples where people asked you to stating that "blacks always ask for discounts" - you simply took your question too far and did not word it properly. This creates tension among races. Why couldn't you spend some time and word your question better?

Look at it this way Oprah is rich, Michael Jordan is rich....so by the way you do things I can now state all black people are rich.

Is it true?

That's funny...

I work at Home Depot, in a predominate white city, and while I also get asked that by black people too. The difference is that MOST of the people that look for bargains, and discounts are white. They also tend to be the ones that are apprehended by our store security most often stealing. Our store Lost Prevention Associate also told me that the #1 thief in retail tends to be "white males", because they know most people don't suspect them. I see it all the time.
It all depends where you're from dude...

just because a black person asks if you'd give them a discount is not a bad thing! what's so wrong with that? i worked as a cashier at Walmart, and people of all races were trying to get money out of the store! and a buch of white folks with food stamps, wellfare, etc... some got mad because they couldnt buy beer with their food stamps!
i've known white people who get WIC, and then try to sell it!
May be you're so racist (i see you even refer to a white person as a "wigger", i guess because he was acompanied by black people, who knows...), that you only notice the black people asking for discounts, and not the rest

Nice, now I know why we are so hated throughout the globe. I'd say the most challenging customer in that respect aren't americans, but tourists from other countries where bartering is standard. They didn't understand the concept that a price tag indicates the absolute price. Good luck, get ready for some hate mail.
