How does the Libertarian party run contrary to you political agenda? And just to save some of you a lot of time, I did not vote for President Bush.

Well as a conservative and based on ideology alone, we (you libertarians) and us share alot with respect to personal freedom, and individual responsibility especially with regards to property, and finances.
Where we part company is that we conservatives do believe that society is somewhat organic and that community standards and morality do matter. I'm not for this "It takes a village to raise a child" thing but it does take parents, and they need help keeping things like pornography, drugs and alcohol away from their children. We believe in some social controls and moral guidelines even from government so long as they are in keeping with the dominant culture. Without these restraints you will get Columbines, Timothy McVeighs and other such people/incidents coming right out of our society let alone terrorists from the arab world.

I can't really say that the Libertarian party is contrary to my political agenda because after much thought I realize that my political leanings are more toward libertarianism than either major party. It's a shame that people are all caught up in a two-party mindset. There really are better choices. Thanks for your question.

I'm guessing that Libs and Cons both tend to think of Libertarian as The Other Side. Sadly, in America these days if somebody disagrees with somebody on a few issues then they are Evil Incarnate.

I have read a little about Libertarians, and I like a lot of what I have read. I'm a paleoconservative/Constitutionalist, so I differ on the drug issue, and a few other things, but other than that, I like the idea of isolationism. If we took care of a lot of our problems here at home, it would take care of a lot of our problems around the globe. The problem is separating political problems from societal problems.

It doesnt much. I would say keep the harder drugs illegal. That's about it. I read that John Stossel book, and he is a libertarian. I totally agree with him. How do libertarians stand on other than domestic policy?

Most Libertarians I have met remind me of NPR listeners who have taken a baby-step away from Liberalism.
I could be wrong.
