Get your desktop set-up and then unplug the monitor from your desktop and plug it into the back of your laptop. If it was only the screen that was broken, you should be able to use the external monitor to navigate and move files.

It might be even easier if you found another monitor you could use during the process, that way you wouldn't have to swap the monitor back and forth.

To establish the connection, go to Start/Control Panel/Networks and fire up the Home Network wizard. It will walk you through the steps.

Good luck.

In the old days when computer users used teletype you could activate the screen print feature and see everything on the screen on the printer. If you hav e aprinter, slave the printer to the screen by actyivating this feature first. The you can see everything intended to display on the screen.
Depending on what software you get and your software, pc age, you need a usb or a parallel or a serial cable, Radio Shack has them or a computrer store like CompUSA
You also can link your screen to your laptop to set up laptop for transfer then connect it back to pc to setup recieving transfer
