the battery trick doesn't work on any modern motherboards. the people who are telling you that, stop listening to their computer advice. there is going to be a 3 pin reset switch on your mother board. the jumper by default is on pins that do not clear bios settings. look up your MB model on the internet, locate these jumpers (they are usually near the edge of the MB opposite the backplane) and move the jumper to the reset setting. This will clear passwords and other custom settings. Usually (and follow the manufacturer's instructions on this) you need to start the computer for about two minutes like this. Turn it off, move the jumper back, and turn it back on. Voila.

Before the computer boots to the operating system it should display a message that says press "whatever key it says" to enter setup. You should be able to restore default settings from there.
