"Inhaling helium for a breath or two is generally harmless. There are reports of brain injury and even death after inhaling helium, but these have occurred after prolonged inhalation (which leads to inadequate oxygen in the lungs and blood) or after inhaling the helium from a pressurized tank (which can force gas bubbles into the bloodstream, a dangerous problem that can cause a stroke)."

Robert Schmerling, MD.

I don't know the extent to which you were in an "oxygen deficit" condition, but I certainly would not recommend this to anybody who has a delicate fetus depending on her body for respiration.

Did you forget you were pregnant? ANything that seems like a stupid idea, usually is, especially when you're pregnant. You're not even supposed to drink coffee or take advil while you're pregnant, why would you think inhaling helium wouldn't effect you or your unborn baby.

Please go tell your doctor about this and see what he says.

Don't worry, that will not harm your baby, but don't do it again!
