I have tried all kinds of cleaners (Viniger, Oxy clean, bleach, commet, etc...), all unsucessful. Hoping someone can help me out. I do not really want to go to the expence of replacement. Any ideas? Maybe someone has experianced the same fiasco.

This is a very comon problem with throw rugs and linoleum. The proble is usually that the throw rug has a rubber coating on the back making it a not sliding rug. what happens is the chemicals in the rubber are not compatable with the linoleum making a yellow mark. there is nothing you can do to fix it. the only thing to do is either replace the linoliem and when you use a rug put the rubber matting used for rugs and hardwood. this rubber matt will not fade any linoleum. When purchaing linoleum in the future look for one that has a fade warenty.

It sounds as if the dye from your rug has leached into the linoleum. If this is the case then there's nothing that can be done other than keep using bleach to see of some of the staining can be removed. At best this will only remove some of the staining but you probably won't see any noticable improvement.

To prevent it happening again you could wash the rug and try applying a color-fixing agent to stop the color running.

Similar problems can occur if a rug is placed on a carpet and something is spilled on the rug - the color from the rug dyes the carpet underneath. Gold and dark colors (especially reds) are the worst for this.

I'm dealing with the same thing right now! However my floors stained Red! My kids bathroom looks like a crime scene!! I've tried Mr Clean, barkeepers helper, vinegar & baking soda. So far the only thing that is working is a steal scouring pad & elbow grease!

Lesson leaned.

Ok what i would try is get a bucket and a scrub brush. In the bucket mix 1 cup of Borax, and some vinagar, with some water. It also works great to clean tile grout! And make it look like new again! Hope this helps, it worked for me!

Sorry. You're screwed. This happened at my father-in-law's condo. Once we realized the floor had to be replaced, we got really aggressive- full strength bleach for 2 hours. Didn't touch it.

I'm thinking about how hairspray is usually used on ink - that seems close enough to try... cheaper than some of your alternatives, too.
