It seems the best arguments for abortion is the my choice point of view and the my body point of view. Both of these are applible to drug abusers so why should they not be allowed to choose the path their life takes if this means a life of drug abuse who is the govenment to oppose it, it is their bodies and they are truly only hurting themselves? The same with prostitution. This is not a pro life/choice question. What do you think?

If someone does die from a drug overdose why isnt that their choice? Abortion often affects more than just the woman who chose to terminate.

Karasi I understand your point of view but abortion hurts people women often need couseling after an abortion. And what about the men who disagree with the procedure none of this is taken into account considering abortion so why should it be a factor considering drugs.

The other argument with abortion is women will continue to do it so it should be legal. What about heroin addicts who continue to use shouldnt this concept also be applied to them so thay can be provided clean needles and such things? This was a major cause of the spead of aids is that not as important?

Abortion isnt harmful? Who are we to decide what harms someone?

AJ The same can be said for drugs they continue to use anyway so why not make it legal so people can safely buy needles and other supplies instead of sharing and spreading disease?

baby girl that is a very sad story but all men who rape are not on drugs, not even the majority are, therein that is not a valid argument for them being illegal.

Personally I don't think the two can be compared. As far as abortion... I am pro choice. I don't believe in using abortion as a form of birth control, however I think the option should be left open. As far as drug abuse, something like that will effect not only the person who is abusing the drugs, but most likely everyone around them. Rarely do you hear of someone dying from an abortion gone bad. But, you hear about drug overdoses all the time.

If drug users are only hurting themselves then why do I have a friend who was raped and almost killed by someone who was all popped up an drugs. Now not only does she have physical scarring to look at and remind her on a daily basis but she also has nightmares and emotional scars to deal with too. She often says she wishes she woulda just died because its soo hard to deal with now. So don't tell me it only hurts the user. When I could give you nightmares just from telling you what happened to her. By the way he got drug treatment instead of prison so their isn't any justice for my friend at all let alone people like you who think its not a big deal.

Having an abortion doesn't affect anyone outside of that doctor's office.

Drugs on the other hand causes people to harm others to support their habit by stealing, lying, or killing others. They miss work days or become unemployed. They may harm themselves or others while driving or using equipment.

Your question is logical, but it is comparing apples to oranges.

Abortion is a woman's choice. Drugs are harmful. Plus if you didn't legalize abortion, people would be doing it illegally and probably unsafe.

Drugs cause ongoing problems and higher health care costs. Abortions curb the ongoing problem (a child) and leave one less person to need health care.

To put it unpleasantly.

It should be each individual's choice in whether or not they want a child, whether or not it was consensual sex, and same with drugs.
