my compaq presario 5000 despk pc won't get started right after I click the screen (compaq)
. it keeps asking "F1 save configuration" and I did. After awhile it returned with a message "non-system disk or disk error, replace and strike any when ready" and then dead.. Please help and thanks !!

You might have a floppy in the floppy driver.
Or, your hard drive may have crashed.

Yep. Take out any disk you might have in the drive the computer won't start with a floppy disk in it unless its a boot disk.

There are three possible things.
1. You may have a floppy inserted in the drive. Remove it.
2. Your battery has been gone.. change it to new one.
3. Your harddisk might gone bad

You have a floppy disk in one of your disk drives. Take it out.

take the floppy disk out of your floppy drive.

may be your hard disc has crashed or system has crashed!!:((( or may be your RAM chip has burnt up!!
