I would seriously like to know how those who describe themselves as Christian can support Bush.
- Even Bush now admits there was never any 9/11-Iraq connection or any WMDs. Isn't war contrary to what Jesus taught? Espcially a war under these conditions?
- Bush now admits that we have tortured people on his orders. This is Christian?
- Poverty is at its highest level in recent history. Bush and Congress constantly cut programs aimed at helping the poor and enact economic polocy which is harmful to those at the bottom. There are approximately 3000 references to helping the poor in the bible, so why does this 'Christian' administration do so little to help them?
- Bush has been caught in multiple lies. For example, the claims about Iraq and uranium from Niger, his connection to Abermof, his denial that the CIA tortured people, etc. Is lying really a Christian value?
Tell me, where in the teaching of Jesus is there support for his actions?

Another one... his actions surrounding New Orleans. Wouldn't Christian teaching suggest we do everything we can for those harmed by Katrina. However, he, and the Congress, have done almost nothing.

Chaney and Rice have both appeared on TV recently and have asserted that there was a 9/11-Iraq connection. To quote Chaney, "I have no doubt that there was a connection".
The passages of the bible most often to justify the church's anti-gay stance are from the Old Testament (Leviticus 18:22). Jesus himself rescinded the laws of purity laid down in Leviticus. (according to Leviticus you are much an "abomination" if you shave).

all presidents have lied..... I am a Christian, I am a republican, I stood in line 4 hrs to vote last election.... I regret it..... While I still think that Bush was better than the other option we had.... based on my Christianity, I made the better choice. I am anti abortion, I don't believe in gay marriage, I think if someone commits murder they should fry..... Bush agrees with those.... yes, he lied... he admitted he lied..... just like 75% of the presidents before him..... As far as your Jesus question.... regarding poverty, it is God's teaching that you work for your food. It is God's teaching that if you are unable to work (not because of lazyness) it is the church's responsibility to take care of you. It seems to me you are NOT very familiar with the Bible... try reading it some time.... you might come across something good

Ever hear of eye for an eye. As for not helping the poor. What about the program " no child left behind "? You do also realize that bush has given more aid to Africa than any other President in history. Including your dear sweet Bill Clinton. By the way I am not a christian or a Bush supporter, in fact Bush is way to Liberal for my liking. Way to much money spent as far as I'm concerned. I know all you libs hate GW but at least look at the facts. As liberal as he is I would think you lefties would love him :)

Being a republican does not mean that I agree with everything Bush does. However, being an American means that I support the person in power and respect that position. Religion and politics are two subjects that many people shy away from due to the controversy...i.e. your comments. You are entitled to your beliefs and your opinions, however look at who we had to choose from if Bush had not been elected to office. What a cluster THAT would have been! We expect our leaders to be perfect and make no mistakes, but are you forgetting the lying man in office last time????? Seems like democrats fair no better.

It's called 'compartmentalised thinking'. Much like christians can say that God will cure all their ills but rush off to the doctor when they really get sick. Much like a christian can say God is all powerfull but it's not His fault if the world is a sh#$%t hole not fit for suffering little children..
Oh yea....Jesus did say that he does not come in peace..but that he comes with a sword!
And he did mention that to be a real christian you have to hate your mother and your father etc.
He also said that if he that if he makes a claim without a witness he is a liar.....then a couple of pages later said that he was making that claim without a witness. ( One christian 'apologist' actually said that it was just because he was talking to the Jews....LOL)
Of course you'll never have read those things....and, sure enough, they'll be out of context anyway...and I'm just reading this through eyes that have been blinded by God.
You see now...maybe a little waterboarding would help me see the light....I'll go look for a talking snake, or a talking donkey for an answer...maybe that witch of Endor is still kickin'....who knows, she might have a better answer for you too !

- Bush never claimed a connection between Iraq and 9/11. Go back and listen to his speeches, don't believe the lies on TV.
- WMD were there, listen to the news.
- Jesus said "turn the other cheek", he never directly addressed war. However, the old testament has many references of God telling people to go to war. I imainge Jesus would probably oppose war, however, he was perfect and never had children. All of us are not perfect, and I'd go to war to protect my children.
- Bush never admitted torture, he admitted interogations.
- Poverty is not at it's highest. You are grossly misinformed.
- There have been no cuts, again, you are misinformed.
- The Bible tells us as individuals to help the needy. The government should not have anything to do with charity. Bush gave almost 20% of his income to charity. Kerry gave 1%.
- You are grossly misinformed. Bush has not lied, you have been lied to. Stop listening to people that hate him on TV, they will never give you the truth. Do the research and find the truth. Listen to his speeches instead of reading the headlines.
- He's not perfect, but you don't have to be to be Christian. Just like being an American. You can be a good American, or a bad American, and still be American.

Site your LEGITIMATE source for your statistics....
Fact: US does NOT torture prisoners of war...loud music and cold air conditioning does not constitute torture
Dictionary Definition of TORTURE:
tor‧ture –noun
1.the act of inflicting excruciating pain, as punishment or revenge, as a means of getting a confession or information, or for sheer cruelty.
2.a method of inflicting such pain.
3.Often, tortures. the pain or suffering caused or undergone.
4.extreme anguish of body or mind; agony.
5.a cause of severe pain or anguish.
–verb (used with object)
6.to subject to torture.
7.to afflict with severe pain of body or mind: My back is torturing me.
8.to force or extort by torture: We'll torture the truth from his lips!
9.to twist, force, or bring into some unnatural position or form: trees tortured by storms.
10.to distort or pervert (language, meaning, etc.).
Now that we cleared that up...
"Historically in the United States, the poverty rate has gone up and down, but there has been an overall downward trend for several decades."
Helping the poor does not mean giving them everything they want without having to work for it.
New Orleans???!! Sorry The chain of command during a natural disaster: town , city , state , THEN FEDERAL......if you have a problem with how New Orleans was handled talk to Mayor Niger and Gov.Kathleen Blanco???? What about their multitude of mistakes!!?? A side note: the assistance that was sent was abused,,,or do you not recall the Millions that were wasted on the debit cards??? Can you say Louis Vuttion???? As a direct result of Houston helping New Orleans they got a 12% hike in crime rate for their trouble...
How could there not be a link between 9/11 and Iraq when Iraq was a training ground for terrorists?
WMD's and the BIG lie.....Saddam was given enough warning of the impending attack....major WMD's were moved to pal and neighbor Syria.....
And Anti-Gay,,,,STAY OUT OF OTHER PEOPLES BEDROOMS! Just like you have a right to you sexual orientation, homosexuals should have the same rights !!!!
OK have I covered everything?
Please Stop trying to tie church and state together they do not belong together.
Keep one thing in mind while you preach your Christian teachings.......there have been more wars in the name of GOD than for any other reason! So the blood is on the hands of the church.
P.S You really have to quit taking everything in the Bible as fact....It isn't, and it really doesn't even make good fiction reading either.

It's called being a hypocrite. There isn't any support from Jesus for the actions of the president and his associates. He's one of those figures who got authority because the people who follow him just have to have something to believe in.
We don't act to impeach because we just wanted to impeach the last president and trying that again would just make the nation look bad. Or look worse because we already look bad as it is. I believe we as a group get ourselves into these situations because as a whole we have no power. These kinds of things don't work on individual opinions. And the mob rule now is controlled by money. If on average we didn't believe that everyone was fat and happy but dysfunctional, the common culture would be one ready for revolution. I think the general public is bogged down by scare tactics including red tape.
In my opinion George W. is the real terrorist. When it was time for reelection there was word of another attack against the nation. There has been the issues of being on alert for the past six years. There are even more commercials about products to fight depression and anxiety. It's like we are still rolling along on the train of the 50's except civil liberties are for people who can afford them.
It's going to stay a sad world until people wake up and take action.

There is only one thing wrong with you question. Not all Christians are for GW. Name me one person in Washington who has no lied at one time or another, As far as the bible is concerned, why do you use it only against the Republicans & Bush.Bill forbid goverment workers from putting their bibles on their desk because someone may be offended. Bill fought goverment money going to help the poor through churches.( who do a better job then the goverment). At least GW does not sellthe White House rooms to the highrst bidder. GW allows his friends to stay for free.

Most of what Jesus taught was actually directed toward the Jew, giving them the instructions on how to live in the millineum. The millineum will be a time of peace, so there is no need for Him to teach about war. He did actually instruct the apostles to equip themselves for battle as they would encounter attackers. For more on Chiristian teaching you should read what those whom Jesus left behind had to write on the subject of things like war.

You are correct. Bush, like lots of conservatives, have strayed from the teachings of Jesus and instead insist upon the consolidation of wealth and power while judging others who don't share their ideas. It's sad, really, that these type of false prophets have hijacked Christianity.
