Babies having the hiccups is completely normal when they are inside the womb. It prepares them to learn to breath outside of the womb. I'm 26 weeks, 2nd pregnancy, and both of my kids had them a few times a day...lasting from a minute to 10 minutes.
It's completely safe for them and you.

I got them alot. I loved the way they felt as well as I liked to watch them. You know what they say. When babies hiccup that means they are growing.

A hiccup is simply a diaphragmatic spasm. It may be very annoying, however, it is very normal... Some people (and babies) are more prone to them than others.

The hiccups are good for them. It helps to develop their diaphragm muscles. I think my daughter must have had them for ever when I was pregnant with her. Must have worked. Boy can that girl scream. lol

When we went to birthing classes (my wife and I) the person teaching it said this was due to gulping in amniotic fluid. She said these babies are usually really good at nursing.
