This will be a birthday present for my 13 year old daughter. Please keep her
age in mind when answering. Anyway, I've read all the pros and cons and
the price is the same. I'd like some opinions from people with experience.

Nintendo DS Lite it's so much fun in my opinion,my daughter loves it,she also wants one too,i try it myself and i think it better than PS2 just because you can take it with you everywhere,i hope i was help full

Pick up the DS Lite. she's getting to an age where a portable device would be nice to have while waiting for the bus or for sports practice to start. In my day that was the good ol' walkman tape player or a CD or if you were lucky you had a gameboy! =^)
PLUS the DS Lite does come in a coral pink color, so if that's what she's in to then that would be a great fit.
As for games, the DS has PLEANTY of games that are suitable for any level of video game player to use. Here are a few; Tetris DS, New Super Mario Brothers, Super Princess Peach, Nintendogs! (many others as well!)

I really enjoy my Nintendo DS Lite. Nintendogs (sp?) is a lot of fun and probably very appropriate for that age. Also, if she likes Mario, the Mario Bros game is fun. There are a lot of games out right now. I also have the Harry Potter game which is quite challenging.
I have to admit, i do not know much about the PS.

Trust me on this, don't get a PS2 for a 13 year old girl. Get a DS Lite. You have my promise that she will love it.

I would recommend the Nintendo DS. It is portable so she can take it with her when she travels or whatever. I have one and I love the fact that I can take it outside and sit on my deck and play games etc.

PS2 has got way more games than the DS, but because it is ur daughter she might like some games on the DS because their are not all that complicated. But if u want to play it to get PS2 because u can get games for her and games for u so I would get PS2. But for ur daughter get DS. But its whatever she likes
