Saying that alcohol will make you fat is just like how soda and sugary snacks make you fat: all the extra, unneeded calories. Regardless of what you eat or drink, if you exceed your daily caloric intake for your height, sex, and current weight, you will most likely pack on some pounds. I'm currently in the midst of losing weight myself, and I do enjoy a glass of wine here and there, so what I do is to plan early in the day if I am going to have a few beers or something later on. That way, I can avoid going over my "calorie budget" without meaning too; if I want to have one beer, say, I eat no bread at lunch. And as long as you're staying conscious of how much you are putting into your body, as well as exercising to get rid of any excess, you should be fine. Go ahead and splurge! Just be sure to make up for it the next day by eating healthier meals and/or working out ten minutes more.

Weight gain in simple terms = calories taken in less calories burned (or used). It does not matter if you drink beer, or ice cream if the amount of calories that your are consuming equal or exceed the amount taken in.

In your question you ask about beer, a typical can of beer is about 120-140 calories. If you drink only 1 can this does not add up to too much. However, keep in mind the rule of calories burned. If you go out for a walk after or before you drink the beer then your calories consumed would about equaql the beer - depending on how far you walk.

Well beer adds pounds not reduce by any means.Although alcohol itself doesn’t contain fat, it is packed with calories. And when you add in mixers – juice, sugar and other ingredients – the calories really can add up. Non-alcoholic beer actually has the same calories as alcoholic beer: 148 calories in a pint. If you drink a light beer – like Bud Light – you’ll only take in around 99 calories per pint.

Generaly yes, alcohol could make you fat. But one beer a day won't be the big cause if you start gaining weight again.

If your lifestyle and your eating habits are in favour of a slim figure, there is nothing against enjoying one beer a day. Cheers !!

Beer has calories. Too many calories makes you gain weight. One beer a day won't do that much damage, but consider switching to a lighter beer that has fewer calories or a mixed drink such as vodka and diet coke.

Noooo... It would be one thing if your downing a 6 or a 12 pack a night. But 1 can isn't going to hurt you. Their not that high in calories and it sounds like your still trying to maintain your weight. So the exercise and other dieting will balance it out. Give yourself a treat and a beer.

If you only drink a small amount, it is not that bad. But alcohol has calories, of course; it is fuel, very directly. So you have to include those calories when you figure how much you are eating.
