Your soulmate is the person you can't live your life without. He's the man you know you want to marry, the man you knew from the start would be yours forever, and the only person you can imagine growing old with. The whole concept of a soulmate implies that this is the man for you and no one else. So no, I don't think it's possible to love your "soulmate" as much as you do your other family and friends. It's supposed to be a different kind of love... the kind of love that once you've found it, you can't be without it. If it were taken away from you, you wouldn't know what to do with yourself.
As for loving someone less than before, of course. People fall out of love all the time. That's what a divorce is for. If you're talking about the same man in both instances (loving him less and loving him the same as everyone else) then he's not your soulmate. You've got some searching to get back to.

Love is universal, so then it is possible to love someone LESS than you did before..
Soul mate yes,, they are here sometimes but not all the times.. and when soulmate meets,, it is not always blissfull, they have to live up and correct the wrong they have done in the past life.
Love for a family and a friend is different... only is is harder sometimes to tell when you fall in love with a friend and then a soulmate comes... The soulmate will always prevail over all the situation whether you like it or not... But soul mates do not always come into your life.

Personally, I think men choose to love and women fall in love. So, yes, I do believe it is possible to love someone less than before.
As for the second question-what the hell's a "soul mate" anyway? I never have understood the term...

yes it's possible. Some people just fall out of love sometimes. The mistake that most people make, is cheating before the relationship is over.
