I am in my early twenties and moving to San Francisco in about a month. I am curious about the ultimate neighbourhood to live in that is affordable and has plenty of young people, bars, restaurants and stores around. A convient location would also be a plus.

the affordable, hip, and accessible to public transport would be the following places:

- Mission District - readily accessible to BART and bus lines, lots of bars, local eateries, cafes, etc.; also full of ethnic flavor
- Noe Valley - a nice mix of residents that include singles, couples, and small families; lots of small boutique shops, dives, hole-in-the-wall restaurants
- Castro - similar to Noe (and just adjacent to Noe), but you will have a more eccentric and "exciting" crowd (nights and weekends); very popular especially Halloween and New Year's, and some weekends in the summer
- Haight/Ashbury
- South Beach (near AT&T park) - a bit on the pricier end, but it is where the new-gen hip folks are habitating
- Marina/Cow Hollow - great place for singles and/or couples, lots of hip places to shop and eat, also some active night life (mostly bars), but street parking is a pain

I live in Glen Park with my wife, daughter, and little York; it is more family oriented, especially those who have been here more than 10 years. We've noticed more couples moving into the neighborhood. Not too much rentals, mostly buying houses.

Noe Valley is pretty nice, lots of young people and families. Good restaurants and pubs, boutiques and galleries. A hop on the J line will take you downtown.

Housing is quite high priced here...In Oakland you are going to discover that that is lots extra fee-effective yet somewhat risky in distinctive spots. I stay interior the bay section, approximately half-hour from SF & Oakland. i does no longer stay too lots closer b/c of site visitors/danger.

San Fran isn't it, dude.

Sullivan's Hollow, Mississippi is actually where the action is today. Hurry while it lasts as Young/Hip/Affordable is a movable feast. Just as soon as the place becomes known, the "affordable" part goes away.

Sullivan's Hollow, Mississippi, dude!!!!!!!!!!!
