If voting were made more convenient, wouldn't more people vote?

It wouldn't save money, the costs of counting votes etc would be the same. In fact it might cost more, polling places are likely free but mail costs money.

Sadly, more people wouldn't vote, anyone who wants to can vote by mail now. It would probably be about the same though at first it might even drop, no reminder and no sticker showing you did your civic duty - you'd be surprised how many corporate types vote mainly to get that sticker, so their colleagues don't think they're a schmuck for not voting.

anyone can vote by mail now. but the ballots still have to be entered into a counting system. and also to be sure the voters are actually who they say they are. Remember how many people voted for kennedy that were dead. But between voting by mail and the internet, the voting polls will be gone.

Not exactly.... We vote by mail in my state and just had a primary in May and our voter turn-out was extremely poor..... Hopefully it picks up for the general coming up here in November.
