Maybe u can set a video camera up on a tripod and record your moves.

The best thing is what someone said, is to record your moves somehow, because otherwise it is almost impossible to remember. When I dance, which is just around the house, not professionally, I just move with the music, but would never be able to remember the moves. You know, small cameras also have that capability, but you would need someone to record it. It also does not last very long. Good luck. Could you remember also if you looked in the mirror, and stop and write it down, then go again. Draw a diagram of the moves.

As a fellow dancer who shares your pain I know how it can be to memorize dances. I find it helps me remember dances if I have a partner or somebody else who is learning the same dance. That way you can question each other on how the dance looks, if it matches the rhythm and beat of the music well and its just more fun to know that you're not handling all the pressure of designing dances on your own. So rope your friend into doing it with you. It'll just be all the more pleasing knowing that you are willing to share the glory and it makes those spotlight moments all the more awesome.

I think you should really listen to the music and get a feel of how your dancers should dance. For example you don't want to do break dancing to Motzarts 5th so keep in mind the music genre and how the body can flow with the music to sync rythm and dancing. Also, ask your dancers if they have any reasonable moves to share that you might want to take into consideration, incorporating into the dancing piece. By doing this you will get to discover each dancer's individual dancing style, strengths and weaknesses, and see who really is talented and who can be creative enough to put thought into movement. Also, watch tapes, don't plagerise but become inspired by some of other dancer's moves as well.

If you are forgetting your choreography, it sounds like you shouldn't be choreographing. You should hire an outside choreographer that knows what they are doing.

All the suggestions above will help: video taping, writing down choreography, listening to music. Just do it over and over again until it is stuck in your head.

If you have a dance team, I am assuming that you want to go to competitions... with competitions there are usually workshops. If you can't remember your own choreography, how do you expect to remember and learn someone elses?

Write down your choreography as soon as you create it. Maybe, write it down as you you create it. Not only you'll have it on the piece of paper, you'll also run the steps through your memory as you're writing them down and that helps. In the evening, run the routine through your memory again. Do it again on the next day.

Do it in any way that helps you. One good way that my coach uses - she writes down the music beat in the left column and writes steps in the right column. Like this:

1 step B(ack) with the L(eft) F(oot)
2 step F with the LF
3 ...
4 ...

1 ...
2
3
4

It is better if your routines are in agreement with musical phrases.

Camcorder or camera idea is surely a good one. But that requires having one of those.

Try videotaping yourself and watching it.If your problem lies within a lack of focus, try dancing in an area you feel comfortable in. Also, keep in mind that u r responsible for these moves so keep ur mindset.
Good luck!
