There is a 72 hour window approximately 14 days after the start of your last period when a woman is most likely to get pregnant. The two times I got pregnant was exactly 14 days after the start of my last period. So any time before or after that. Sprem can live up to 72 hours in the vagina depending on it's level of alklinity (how acidic it is)

There's a reason that that is called "Vatican Roulette", as in "Russian Roulette".

It is not safe to have sex without protection if you don't want to get pregnant. You can ovulate (be fertile) at ANY time. EVEN in the middle of your period.

Use some form of birth control EVERY time you have sex.

A woman can get pregnant at any point. If you want to have sex and not have to worry about a baby, use protection. Although, there is now fool proof method besides abstaining.

sperm can live a while, don't take chances.
ALWAYS use birth control (both partners) to avoid birth control, the rhythm method doesn't work -- read link below. 25% of women using rhythm method over a year had accidental pregancy -- that's kind of high don't you think?
