In a lot of places the local library will deliver books to your home if you are disabled. A whole leg cast sure meets that requirement.
Call them and get a steady stream of new books and magazines showing up without any driving or effort. You could probably look at their collection online and make specific choices that way.

I was stuck in a similar position a few years ago. I got ahold of some art supplies and started drawing - even though I'm no artist, I was able to do some pretty decent freehands of parrots and even designed a cartoon character bunny of my own. It kept my mind and body occupied and kept me from getting sucked into the vortex that is daytime TV.
Best of luck, and hope your recovery is swift and complete.

If you like Ricky Gervais, I can highly recommend his podcasts, get them either through iTunes or RickyGervais.com, I must admit I found him hard to watch in the Office, warmed to him in EXTRA's, but his podcasts with Steve Merchant, and idiot savant Karl Pilkington will have you crying (with laughter).
