I've never been religiously shunned (unless the Jehovah's Witnesses and others are just leaving me alone) but I have seen others shunned. I think it's a very cruel practice and I don't like it at all. It's not a very christian-like virtue in my opinion. As for being physically shunned, I was ignored a great deal ion High School (we had a very small school and the cliques were outrageous) It simply made my character stronger and I have the tendency to champion underdogs because of it. I know how they feel. Blessings!

Yes, I have been shunned. It happens to shy people a lot. Because you don't talk much or very little, people avoid social contact with you. I dealt with this by dealing with my social anxiety and learning to always greet people with hello or stay and chat a little. This way I stopped being seen as wallpaper and became a person.

In a religious sense, yes. Was disfellowshipped from the Jehovah's Witnesses in 1982. My parents are still Witnesses, and yes, still talk to me. I had been divorced and was living with two women at the time, though one left a few months later. She left a note saying she couldn't take the sharing anymore. We never did figure out which of us the note was addressed to.

God says love thy neighbor as thyself and also if you do not know God then you do not know love because God is love. I think that shunning is the most meanest behavior there is and before passing that rule the people who do it ought to stay away from all they love for 6 months and know how it feels first. Judge as you want to be judged!

i was shunned by a group 40 somethings who acted like bratty 9th. graders who were inable to ajust to adulthood.

like i was hurt, not!

best thing that ever happened to me actually.

my friend who introduced me to them was upset for a while but got over it because they got tired of their crap and backstabbing all that drama!

he was shunned later for telling them the truth about how he felt on their conduct.

now we're both free.

By some people (And thank God they 'shunned' me, because I didn't like them either).
