I saw a woman recently waiting for the train and she had on four-inch spike heels. She was moving the top of her heel from side to side with her ankle, sometimes moving it fast, sometimes slowly. Sometimes she would oscillate it quickly starting off with bigger movements which get smaller and smaller till the heel comes to rest vertical. Then she lifts her toes off the ground and keeps her heel on the ground, but pivots her foot on the heel slowly up and down and also from side to side. She also tapped the stiletto up and down on the conrete.

I really loved to watch her do those things. I imagined what she could be thinking as she did it. Perhaps by moving her foot about she could feel the heel underneath better and remind herself how tall her heels were. Do you think she enjoyed the feeling of doing those kind of things with her shoes?

I would dearly love to know what it feels like but men are not allowed to wear spike heels so if any lady could answer I would be really grateful.

Or she would lift one foot off the ground by just an inch and tap the stiletto lightly on the concrete 5 times or more before balancing on the heel and then flicking her toes back down with a little slap. I have seen many other ladies do similar things as well.

This is bothering me so much that I tried fixing 4 inch pencils underneath my training shoe heels with tape. I hoped to balance to get an idea of the feeling of rocking on the heel just like women do but a pencil snapped and the other one slipped out. I would be too embarrassed to buy ladies shoes in a shop. If so they would never fit me anyway as I have size 11 men’s feet.

My girlfriend never wears high heels at all so I can't ask her so I'd be so greatful if the people here can help me.

I have to agree with the other answerers.

If you have been wearing heels and on your feet most of the day, especially if they are as high as 4 inches, they can start to "burn" the soles of your feet, It's not pleasant especially if you have to stand around waiting. It's quite natural to tilt your shoe to one side or to tip the foot up so you just balance on the heel. This takes the weight of your foot for a minute and helps the circulation return. Rocking the foot up and down or from side to side also helps the blood flow like a massage.

There is a chance that if I was wearing particularly high heels that day and my feet weren't tired. I might play around with different foot angles and heel positions just as a way to relax and pass the time. It's kind of an involuntary thing like twisting your hair round and round your finger or crossing your legs, so sometimes I have found myself doing it. Thin heels are unstable and you need to hold them in position with your muscles, so letting go of the tension in your ankles and calves is a natural thing. I don't think it's much more than that though. Hope it helps.

By the way, stiletto heels need to be specially made so we can wear them safely. I don't think it's a good idea to try balancing on pencils, you will likely spear your foot or something! You should try buying some specialist large size heels. Wear them round the house all day and you'll get a better idea of the difficulties we sometimes put up with to look good.

She was doing that to prevent leg cramping. I wear at least 3 inch heels to work everyday. I can tell you that it is not comfortable. I usually have a pir of slippers that I keep under my desk. I use this when I do not have to seat through a meeting or conference and meet with people.

I do the same thing she does cause my toes and feet get tired and numb after standing for periods of time. The movement prevents the pain from being so strong.

Yes it does look sexy, but its not fun. My fashion teacher used to say- "To be fashionable, one must hurt a little."That was a white lie. It hurts a lot. My feet are sore every night. Good thing is, my boyfriend does not mind giving me foot rubs. He likes the heels , too that's why.

You might have enjoyed watching, but from the sound of it, she was doing that to either get the circulation in her feet moving again or she was trying to tune out the pain. Some women say you get used to heels that high, but that's not true for most. Wearing heels for long times HURTS!!! Yes, I wear heels most days, but I work in an office in front of a computer. I'm mostly sitting down. I'll frequently kick my shoes off under my desk to give my feet a break. And if I have to run errands after work, believe me, I'm so thankful to put my slippers on the second I get home!

uh... if you didnt know, wearing heels (unless they're the very new expensive ones) is VERY painfull. She must care about her appearance very much to have desided to wear stilettos. She was just trying to get her blood moving again, because her feet hurt so badly.

I would never wear 5 inch high heels.... I might die! I was in a musical once where I had to wear 3 inch heels going up stairs and changing outfits, which is not good! off course, i dont really need high heels, since im 5'8" and almost 13 years old. :D

i usually wear 4 in or higher everyday, and people look at you like it hurts, but it really doesn't, as matter of fact you get used to them, i trip wearing sneakers, i been wearing those type of shoes since i was 14 or 15, im 19, and to answer your question about moving your feet I do it to kind of let the time pass, you know when you are bored to death?...but hey you can go to the store and buy some shoes and say they are for your girlfriend and then return them, i mean just go home and try them on. Good Luck, and hope that answers your question!

She was bored to death waiting for that train , and is probably a hyper person. That's what we hyper do when we are forced to stand in one spot for any length of time. As far as what it felt like. probably the same to her as it does to you in your regular shoes. We do get used to wearing such shoes. And in fact it feels strange to be flat footed after wearing them.
