You could:
1. use it as a terrarium;
2. use it as a large sink for hand washing linens/blanks/large items;
3. fill it with blue-colored water and oil and put it on a wobbly base so you could see the sea-like action of the water/oil;
4. drill a hole in the bottom, thread a wire through it, mount a light on the end of the wire, and turn it upside down and use it as a chandelier;
5. use it to store coins--if you have lots;
6. set it out in your family room and use it to store some blankets;
7. use it as a laundry hamper;
8. keep it in your garage and dump old oil (from when you change your car's oil at home) into it until you are able to cart it to a proper disposal site;
9. make a fancy looking trash can for your kitchen;
10. build a speaker and use the aquarium as the speaker box--it would make a snazzy looking center speaker--or make a giant sub woofer;
11. use it as a base for an outdoor table;
You could also just post it as a free item on Craigslist. Good luck!

You might try layering sand of different colors to create a pretty base. Slope it around to various heights & then either put real plants, or silk that you wouldn't have to worry about caring for & those you could change whenever you wanted to.
Add in statues and knick-knacks for whatever theme you choose, & you could create a mini-oasis where you could mentally visit even when you're not looking at it. A harbor of sorts, or as some would say, a vacation spot.
You could also use colored marbles and stones in combination with sand, or without if you wanted to.

put a collection in it to display :o)
How about a pretty place to burn candles? You could use something heat proof to raise some candles up higher than others. You could even dump sand in it & sink some tapers or lay t-lights on top...
You could put a potted plant in it.
fill the entire thing with different colors of rocks...layer them for a pretty effect.
frost the glass w/ frosting spraypaint & ,mount a light socket on the bottom (most craft or hardware stores sell a kit- you basically screw in a light bulb them set the socket on a flat surface)... you can create a SPECTACULAR ambiancce light... if you use a low wattage bulb it should just glow through the frosted glass.
use it as sesonal decor... for halloween you can fill it with newspaper & line the glass w/ candy... or cover it with spider webs & fake spiders... for christmas fill it with a strand of lights & a bunch of theose glass mirrored balls... for fall you could fill it with fall elaves (either fake or from your yard) Easter- put a ton of plastic easter eggs inside....
I could go on forever!

Ya, layer groovy coloured rocks, then a layer of potting soil, plant some unusual tropical plants in it. It would be interesting and easy to take care of.

You could decorate it. Put fish rocks and decorations but don't put water in it. That's what I did.
