The blood glucose level is the amount of glucose in the blood. Glucose is a sugar that comes from the foods we eat, and it's also formed and stored inside the body. It's the main source of energy for the cells of our body, and it's carried to each cell through the bloodstream.
Having too much sugar in the blood for long periods of time can cause serious health problems if it's not treated. Hyperglycemia can cause damage to the vessels that supply blood to vital organs, which can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke, kidney disease, vision problems, and nerve problems in people with diabetes.
Health problems can occur in adulthood in some people with diabetes, particularly if they haven't managed or controlled their diabetes properly.
Blood sugar levels are considered high when they're above your target range. Your diabetes health care team will let you know what your target blood sugar levels are.

Yes, High glucose levels are serious. They can be an indication of Diabetes. You need to watch your blood sugar. The best thing to do is go to your doctor and talk to him/her about it. If you have high levels, and have diabetes in your family only a doctor can diagnose, and advise you on what to do.

Your Dr. will probably order a glucose tolerance test- which means you get to drink a nasty sweet orange soda type drink, then you will have several blood draws over a period of four hours. The test measures how quickly your body metabolizes the sugar. If your body doesn't get rid of the sugar in your blood fast enough or effectively enough then you are likely diabetic and your Dr. will likely prescribe medications and/or diet changes, etc.
Diabetes isn't the end of the world. I am a type 2 diabetic. It tends to run in families (so is my Dad and so was his Dad) and it can be exacerbated if you are overweight or you fail to eat in a healthy fashion.
Losing weight, getting exercise and eating in a healthy way (your Dr. may also suggest you see a Diabetes Educator to learn about these things and how to make them part of your lifestyle) will go a long way in helping you live with and cope with diabetes.

Normal blood glucose levels are measured through testing with a glucometer which gives you your present blood glucose reading..
In terms of glucometer readings throughout the day, your levels are best to be between 4.0 and 7.0 before meals and 6.0 and 10.0 between meals.
Consistent readings above these levels may be an indication that you are diabetic. Talk to your doctor.

Yeah, it means your body is glucose intolerant, it raises your blood sugar levels even if you have sugar in you. Watch what you eat, cut all the junk to minimal, eat right, only does your body good. Helpful hint, follow the low GI diet. Food on that diet have a low GI and releases glucose slowly. It's as serious as you allow it to be ;)

It is your sugar level. If it is to high you could be a diabetic. If your level is high you should stop eating pasta, potatoes, bread. No cake or pastry of any kind. Just a little of these foods can shoot your sugar level to the moon.

You really should be asking a nurse or a doctor about this type of question. All I know is that if you consume too much sugar (glucose) you could be prone to have diabetes. But please confirm this with your doctor or nurse.
