I had IVF with my first daughter. The weight to hear the heartbeat is the longest thing you'll ever have to endure. But that's because you knew the minute you were pregnant. Most women are at least 2-3 weeks pregnant before they even know.

I saw the heartbeat before they heard it. But I was still at the IVF doctor until I was 12 weeks and they had better equipment than most places do.

If your doctor hasn't done an ultrasound to look for the heartbeat, ask him to try that.

But relax until about 10 weeks. That's about the right time.

I'm incuding a good website to track the pregnancy.

When Does Fetal Heartbeat Start

It's very difficult to pick up heartbeat from a doppler, even at 12-13 weeks sometimes. Because the baby is so tiny, and moves around. You should be able to detect heartbeat via vaginal ultrasound between 5-7 weeks, depends on the u/s machine and skill of the tech.

I heard my baby boys heart beat when I was 5 weeks pregnant. Don't worry to much as that may cause stress on your wife...... Sometimes the baby is positioned a certain way that you can't always hear it when you are looking for it. Like in my cousins case. They could not find the heartbeat when she was 7 weeks preg. and they let her go home and of course she was very worried. on her next visit a week later.. She heard her babies heart beat....

With my son I heard his at 6 weeks 5 days, but with my daughter I was 8 weeks when I finally heard her's. Wait a few more days and have the doctor try again.
