ADSL Router not responding when connected to USB Port?

Question

I am having ADSL Router with a USB and LAN port.The router is having an ip 192.168.1.1When on LAN port I am able to access the router as I am able to ping the router ip.But when I connect the router with USB port I am not able to ping it.
The router is acting as a DHCP server.For both LAN and USB I have kept the IP auto assign option.What is the prob?

Sounds like a usb driver issue. If this is SBC/att I would rerun the installation software and select the USB connection instead of LAN.
