I know masturbation is natural, but why did he have to do it on or coach in the entertainment room. Was this over the limit of decency should I ask him to move out? Or should I trust that he won't do it again in such a public area?

You mean, COUCH - don't you? I'd hate to think he blew his load all over the dude in charge of the football team....lol
He really should have had some common decency to spank his monkey in a more private area, such as the bathroom, or his own bed. Tell him that you don't appreciate it - and are put off by it. If he acts like you are the one with the problem - then he needs to go.
Or.....you could put a webcam out in the living room and put him on the web if he does it again......:-)

That's definitely something to be done only in the privacy of your own bedroom. Who wants to see or sit in somebody else's ***?
How did you explain the missing couch? Seems as something should have been said at that time.
If nothing's mentioned by you, he'll only continue to do it on the new couch also. You definitely need to say something to him.

clown the **** out of him. make him as uncomfortable as you feel by embarrassing him about it every chance you get. That way it will never happen again. if it doesnt kick his *** for bein an inconsiderate bastard. then kick him out. he should at least have the decency to jack off behind closed doors instead of shared rooms.

Grow up a little. Where do you do it? Did he leave it on the couch? If so that's a problem. If he is an experienced MBr then he used something and then got rid of it. So just chill out, check the couch I bet you'll find worse things under the cushions.

I would make sure tht he never does anything like that again or out he goes with only enough time to pack up. That is private and only to be done in his own room.
