Information on Signs Of Diabetes
Early Signs of Diabetes

It is important to understand that some early signs of diabetes may also be the same signs people with more advanced cases exhibit. As such, it is vital to consult with your physician if you suspect you may be developing signs of diabetes -- especially if the condition runs in your family history.

Moreover, because type 2 diabetes (which comprises approximately 95% of all cases of diabetes) is a condition that develops very gradually, some people who have high blood sugar may exhibit no symptoms whatsoever.

Having said this, what follows are some symptoms that may be early signs of diabetes -- or more advanced.

Diabetes Symptoms (for type 2 Diabetes):

1. Increase in thirst
2. Increase in need to urinate
3. Increased appetite
4. Blurring of haziness of vision
5. Increased fatigue/lethargy
6. More infections and/or infections taking longer to heal
7. Worsening of vision
8. Wounds or infections increasingly slow to heal

Please keep in mind this list is not exhaustive...but represent only the most well known information on signs of diabetes.

Many of the signs of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are similar. In both, there is too much glucose in the blood and not enough in the cells of your body. High glucose levels in Type I are due to a lack of insulin because the insulin producing cells have been destroyed. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body's cells become resistant to insulin that is being produced. Either way, your cells aren't getting the glucose that they need, and your body lets you know by giving you these signs and symptoms.

Frequent trips to the bathroom
Unquenchable Thirst
Losing Weight Without Trying
Weakness and Fatigue
Tingling or Numbness in Your Hands, Legs or Feet

Constant thirst--severe enough to be uncomfortable--and peeing.

Heart racing and/or dizziness

Small cuts take forever to heal

Gaining lots of weight easily and hard to take it off.

You can get a blood test at many pharmacies (chemists) for this if you are concerned, do this to set your mind at rest.

Type I (usually when young & due to pancreas ceasing production of insulin). Weight loss, excessive thirst, peeing a great deal, lots of minor infections, exhaustion.
Type II (usually adult onset & due to insulin sensitivity, that is the failure of the body to utilise circulating insulin). Usually weight gain, probably around your middle, lethargy, tiredness.

Good website below, explains it all for you.
