I read this book a while ago and i can't remember the name of it.
it was about this guy named charile who had autism, but some scientists were able to do something to his brain which made him smarter. i think the name of the book had something to do with flowers. and as i said before it's been a while so what i remeber might be slightly wrong. if you have any ideas thought that would be great!

It's called "Flowers for Algernon", who was the mouse who was made smarter first.

Had to read it in high school English about 20 years ago.

There were 2 movie versions of it too. one in 1968 called Charly and one in 2000 (independent film) called Flowers for Algernon.

Try this page. It has lists of fiction and non-fiction books on autism.

Do any of these seem familiar?

Flowers for Algernon, no question. And Charlie wasn't autistic, he was severely retarded.
