My theory is that there is a larger amount of gas involved with a loud fart and its is less dense with odor than the small amount of gas associated with a silent fart.

there is no logic to this its just myth.
the sound of the fart is just the function of the velocity / pressure it leaves the asshole at, and has nothing to do with its chemical compostion
