You are never "required" to leave a tip anywhere. That said, if they bring your drinks, and do a good job, $1 per person in the party.
If you do everything except clear the table, 5% of the total check, but never less than $1 unless you are making a statement about bad service.
Remember, buffet workers get wait staff minimum wage ($2.13/hr most places). They get more tables per hour, so you do not need to tip 15%.

If they bring drinks and clear plates then you should tip them. They get large sections and have to keep up on the empty plates or the restaurant would be a mess. It might not seem to be a lot of work but it does get pretty busy. Plus they still make serving wages which is almost nothing.

I read about this in either Bon Appetit or Gourmet a year or so ago. At a buffet, 10% is all that should be left for a tip, unless the server delivering your drinks was on the ball and truly deserves more.

I am not sure if it's required but it's a cool thing to do. Although I don't tip near as much for the buffet. Usually a couple dollars is more than enough in this situation.

If there is a server who performs service such as refill my coffee cup and clears the dishes, then yes. 10% or so of the total bill feels right to me. These people depend to some extent on tips. In my past, I've worked as a server and I know how much tips meant to me. However, if I carry my own dishes to the table and then clear my own dishes, then no tip.

I always leave a tip. It's deserving if anyone does anything for you.
I don't eat out much, but have an ex and a daughter that at times have worked for tips.

I do, usually a buck or two per person eating-depending how quick/friendly they are. For the same reasons you stated, bringing your drinks and taking your plates.

if im anywhere and anyone does something like keep my drink full I tip. at least give them a five. I remebered when i worked jobs like that and how much I appreciated it when I got tipped and how shitty I would feel when some jerk makes you jump thru hoops and then stiffs you. Plus they arent getting much money per hour so yeah tip. Put yourself in their shoes.
when in doubt tip...if you can put it in their hands to make sure they get it and no one steals it
