Slap then on the wrist and tell them no more McDonalds for them...
Seriously, there are no sanctions that are going to be effective. They have oil. Countries need oil. If we don't buy oil from them, some other country will. Sanctions are useless as an incentive, because other countries need Iran more than Iran needs them.
Then again, remember that you're talking about punishing a country for doing what international laws specifically ALLOW them to do. Every international law out there says that they are allowed to develop nuclear power generation technology. And the UN resolution is just a bunch of countries saying "we don't like you". It has no force or effect as a matter of law.
The US wants to punish a country, based on what they might do in the future, with no proof that they have, or even that they will. How is this not imperialism and international bullying run amok?
If the US wants to keep ordering countries to comply with our demands, and punishing them when the don't, we should just declare ourselves the Empire of America and get it over with. If we are going to act like we rule the world anyway, we might as well make it official.

Stop selling arms to them and encourage other countries to do the same. pf course this will hurt the arms industry, and w emay have to police big business, resulting in assinations, rigged elections etc, we could also stop training freedom fighters(ie Terrorists) and stop exporting our own brand of terror, too many others are learning the techniques, returning to the bargaining table could be a good idea, but the only way to have a voice at the UN is IF you have nuclear weapons, why get worried about it at all? Are we upset about research and dev of chemical and nuclear arsenals and delivery systems in NA? nope.
We could always promise not to invade them for 40 yrears, and not lay trade embargoes that do nothing to affect those in power
the bes tsanction would be: Hey you want nukes and and the tech fo runlimite dernrgy, here ya go, now give us all the oil and nastural gas yo uhave, we hav eto invade somebody else soon, preferably beofre the next election

No sanctions. Iran has dome nothing illegal.
It is simply developing nuclear power stations like every other country. The UN inspectors have stated that there are no nuclear weapons, and no intention to build any.
The American opinion has been falsely affected by biased press, and a war-mongering president.
Its another Iraqi WMD story. We know there were no WMDs, and we know there are no Iranian nuclear weapons.

A fitting sanction for this situation would be for the US to cut all imports of iranian oil. This way all of those profits from selling the US oil will not go into the hands of what US calls " terrorist state".

We NEED to pull ALL of the McDonald's restaurants out of there. No more Coke, or Pepsi, No more Hagandaz or Edie's. They claim the US is so evil, but they love our life style. Let them live without it for awhile.

Unless Iran attacks someone (which is possible with current U.S. foreign policy goading them), whose business is it besides theirs?
