It is a variation of Mary or Mariam. This means 'wished- for child.'

Yes Sarah is a very common Muslim name. I guess there is no problem in that even if the mother of Hebrews was Sarah. Although there are differences in the two religions, but they still share a common background. And there is no problem in Islam in keeping one's name as Sarah.
