Chevy started putting the fuel pumps in the gas tank in 1987 or 1988. They started putting the fuel filter in the fuel tank in the mid to late 1990's. They are both fairly expensive to replace seeing as how you have to drain & drop the tank to change them.

The fuel pump is in the gas tank. It's a bit of a pain in the #$# to drop the tank with out a lift, but it can be done.

They were right, most auto manufacturers have the fuel pump in the gas tank and it's electric supplying the gas at around 40 pounds psi.

I would first look for an access panel above the tank. That could ease the pain$. Some vehicles have them. Most do not.
