There are many gods both male and female associated with the "wild hunt".
In Celtic areas it was Cernunnos or Herne, in Germanic ones it was Wooden or Wotan, no horns for the Germans though, and are related to Pan, the greek god of nature.
The Wild Hunt is supposed to be most likely to occur in the dark months, especially the nine days after Christmas.
People would hear the yelling dogs and the gallopping horses and if they were surprised outside they would be carried away with it, sometimes never to be seen again, sometimes to find themselves in a far away place.

There are several names of that god. Cernunnos is the oldest and Herne is a newer name. The wild hunt has many legends out it. Some are Christian slanted as it being the devil collecting the souls of sinners. Others have different purposes for the hunt, though none I can remember now.
One common myth of the hunt can easily be found here as well as links to other of the Horned Gods. http://www.lugodoc.demon.co.uk/HERNE.HTM

I suspect that you are thinking of Cernunos as several others have suggested. However, IME when most people who are *not* dedicated pagans speak of the God of the Hunt they are thinking of Herne, the White Hart.

This link mentions the history of the White Hart, though not in great detail:

And this one goes into considerable detail, but may not be particularly useful:

One thing is that The White Hart is most often associated with Richard III. Depending on which legend you listen to the appearance of the White Hart is a very good omen, or a sign of impending disaster.

My overall exposure to this mythology leads me to believe the White Hart pretty much doesn't care about humans and is mostly interested in protecting the forest, whatever that means.

Cernunos is the god of the Wild Hunt

I think there are differing theories about what the Wild Hunt was all about - it was usually seen as a sign that some catastrophy was about to occur. I seem to remeber reading somewhere that Cernunos was hunting evil people but don't remember where.

My first responce was the Celtic Cernunnos; however, there are several Wild Hunt myths worldwide, equally as there are Horned Gods.

Here is info on the Wild Hunt:

God IS a guy, yet is he the Jesus? nicely, in case you assert that God is the actual father of Jesus (Bible says in any different case), how would desire to he be God, have intercourse along with his mom & then have himself? The bible says that God isn't the writer or confusion. Now, that kind understanding & coaching of God & Jesus merely defies all good judgment & reason. interior the bible, John 6:40 two, John 8:40-one and Romans a million:a million-3, (merely to call some) provides the actual father of Jesus as JOSEPH. i did not say it, the Bible suggested it. So do not "THUMBS DOWN" this post earlier you examine your bible! simply by fact the bible says, "a clever guy loveth correction & a fool despises reproof". enable's not be silly.

Well it depends on what context the god is described. Is it the goat/ram horns that has a male body and goat legs and does he have wings? You could be talking about Baphomet. He is associated with the woods, hunting, or wild animals. He is the famous figure for male sexuality and verility. He is sometimes called THE HUNTER. But he is very well known in Christianity as Satan and the sign of Satanism.
