I have trifocal vision, an astigmatism, am nearsighted, 55 yrs. old, and fed up with glasses.

I talked with someone who said it's not guaranteed I'll have normal vision after the procedure, and still might have to wear glasses of some sort. Only for reading I could deal with but not glasses I'd have to wear all the time. It would defeat the purpose.

I will research this more, yet hoped for input from someone who's had laser surgery with vision simular or the same as (trifocal) mine. From the horses mouth so to speak. Are there any optometrists who might be online who can advise? Knowledgeable or experienced answers please.
Thanks!!!

Really only your eye doctor or surgeon can make a good prediction for your visual outcome. There is a risk that you will not have perfect 20/20 vision (without glasses) after the surgery, however, most people have great success with LASIK and other refractive surgeries.

You won't be able to have the trifocal-type vision that you have now with your glasses. You have the surgery correct you for distance and then wear reading glasses. You can also try what's called monovision, where one eye is corrected for distance and the other for near. The brain then decides which eye to pay attention to based on which one is in focus. (Most people try this in contact lenses first to make sure it will work for them.)

Three of my sisters have the same problem and all of them had surgery. One sister was so blind she had to wear her glasses to shave in the shower so she could see her legs, she now has 20/40, the oldest sister was pretty damn blind too, she wears a pair of glasses she bought at walgreens for reading thats it!!! the 3rd one also needs glasses for reading, I am the youngest of the group, but I only wear mine to drive, so it is not a problem for me. I would go for it. Good luck!

I had it done and love it. My dad got it done at 54 and loves it. He wears glasses to read now but that is affect of getting older and your eye being less flexible. Go for it, best money I ever spent.

Tiger Woods got his done and he really needs to keep his eyesight.

Don't shop around for the cheapest price here, this is a time to go for the best quality you can get.
