Anything can cause a miscarriage. Let your doctor know what's going on with you and he'll recommend medicine that is harmless to the baby.

There are many things that will cause a miscarriage that we know about and those we don't know about.

Laxatives have been known to induce labor. So it all depends on how far along you are.

If you are constipated make sure you are getting plenty of water, try eating some applesauce, take a fiber pill and/or call your Dr's office for other advice.

No you should not take laxatives when pregnant. Don't know what it does but know you shouldn't.
If your suffering constipation eat a 2 or 3 kiwis. Helps movement and is good for the baby.

I agree with the nurse, go to your doctor.

My personal experience: do not use laxative except if special rationale validated by doctor (or just in the hours prior to giving birth of course).

I would even add a further word of caution: be cautious of people calling themselves 'doctor' or 'nurse'... there is no evidence on the web... so all is consultative.

I have a book on natural herbal remadies and it states that Senna (which is used in a lot of OTC laxatives) is VERY dangerous during pregnancy. I talked to my OB and asked about the new fiber suppliments that you add to food and drinks (I use Fiber Sure by Metamucil) and he said it was safe to use. Adding more fiber and drinking more water is good for constipation.

They can cause the baby to have a bowel movement and that can result in a miscarriage. Its not likely but its possible. Now, if you take a Bowel Stimulant...this can cause you to go into premature labor because the "Stimulant" part causes you to begin having contraction. I know this because of experience. My ob/gyn told me to take over the counter Senokot (natural vegetable stool softener) it works great and if COMPLETELY safe for the baby. GOOD LUCK!! TRY THIS WEB SIGHT IT TELLS YOU EVERYTHING

Prunes/prune juice works very well. But in moderation. Not too much! See what the DR says as well, everyone is different but, if you're suffering from severe constipation, prunes is a natural fruit and does work to get things flowing. Good luck!

most laxitives say do not take if pregnant or breast feeding.. i'm in nursing school... i would not take anything that has that on the label.. your doctor can give u all kind of ideals but if u need a quick fix now... i'd suggest drinking lots of water and eating something that has fiber in it... ask ur doctor as soon as possible

My doctor told me to take the liquid laxative or the chocolate chewable laxatives. Just increase your fruit and vegetable intake.

Don't use laxatives, try a stool softener, they are safe.
