Are we going to far with genes? I find this question ridiculous. Maybe cloning isn't as great as everyone thinks, but the Human Genome Project is a whole other matter.

Think once we crack the DNA code will be able to alter our children's DNA by just adding a few enzymes. Make sure they are born without deformity, disability, give them a perfect chance at life. Cancer could be cured, and the human bodies tenacity and endurance increased. We could balance out Serotonin and Dopimine in the system, and prevent depression. When the human genome project is finished and becomes available to the public, we could have an entire generation of perfectly healthy and happy individuals, that have no rotten hand to start out with, and they only thing that would make people crazy would be enviromental factors.

To me, its Eden.

We will go very far with genes, in fact all the way. We will be able to prevent death, BUT we when we reach this stage, we still would not have found a use for life in the first place, so we will not see the point of being immortal.

Some of us already have. Gene experiments are mankind trying to play God.
In Japan, one scientist has worked out how to make a mouse give birth to a rat. See how you feel when they start mixing human DNA with that of animals.
Were beasts bred as weapons.

life !!, its been created in a lab already, or at least the building blocks, proteins, amino acids etc.....
as for creating a life-form , thats another matter, eventually human curiosity n creativity, will accomplish that feat.....will that make "us" gods ?
as for genes, i'm a little old fashioned, i prefered the "bell-bottoms"......

It's not about the answer, it's about the quest to answer it. Face it, the journey is almost always more exciting than the destination.
