You can't do it your self and I doubt any doctor would tell you it's okay to try. Only a trained person knows how to do it.

Your body is susceptible to infections if you keep sticking your hand in your vagina to check your dialition. And besides, unless you are a doctor, midwife, or doula yourself, you won't be accurate and you could psych yourself out, thinking you're further along than you are, or thinking you haven't made much progress when you really have. I'd say it's best to leave it to the sterile-gloved professionals.

Your doctor is not serious.
First you have no way to tell at which stage you are by yourself.
you may see evolution, then ok, but that's all. I would say : so what? what added value for you?
the key is to have regular visits with your gyn. when the time comes, you will know it: contractions, losing waters... even ther, you should have plenty of time to go to hospital.
last, hygien of course, not tqalking about useless stress: you are not your own doctor responsible to monitor evolution of such detail by yourself.
take care.

There is no good way for you to try from home because you need to be laying down and be able to reach your cervix. Your husband may be able to check but he has no experience and judging size. It is best to have a nurse, midwife or your Dr. do this.

I hope your Dr was kidding. This is impossible unless you have had proper training. Don't try anything, you could hurt yourself or the baby. Just have the Dr. check when you go in for your normal visits. Good Luck!

Your doctor must be joking!!! Only a trained person knows what to look for. Think about it, even the nurses don't do these exams, only the midwifes & OBs do!!!

You don't check yourself, that's insane, if you are in labour go to the hospital and get it done properly, if you are not in labour, leave it alone.

stick your hand up there, if you can get your fist inside easily, i'd say if safe to say you wide open.
