The Winner Takes It All by Abba. Cheesy I know but it was a hell of a song to perform given all that was happening within the band at the time

I don't think you can name just one song as the "best" song written. It's a matter of opinion & everybody has one. Personally, my faorites are
Journey~Open Arms
Dire Straits~Romeo & Juliet
Eric Clapton~Wonderful Tonight
Quicksilver~Don't Cry My Lady Love
Garth Brooks~ The Dance & The River
Bruce Springsteen~Thunder Road
Rascal Flatts~What Hurts the Most
Allure&112~All Cried Out
That's just to name a few!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's always "cool" to name a Bob Dylan song, but I think Bruce Springsteen has written some great songs in the past that appeal to much of middle America. Working-man-type songs. "Thunder Road" comes to mind.

The real one is " God bless America " But I love "Have I told you lately that I love you" sung by Rod Stewart.
Hey, my husband gave it to me for my anniversary years ago.
